Informal meeting between the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Norway, Mrs. Elsbeth Sande Tronstad, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of European Funds, Mr. Ciprian Necula

On September 29th, 2015, in Cluj Napoca, there was held the informal meeting between Mrs. Elsbeth Sande Tronstad, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway and Mr. Ciprian Necula, State Secretary in the Ministry of European Funds of Romania, National Focal Point for the Roma people in Romania, an appropriate opportunity for discussing the development stage of projects funded under the EEA and Norway Grants in Romania.

The meeting highlighted the importance of the National Strategy for the integration of the Romanian citizens belonging to Roma ethnicity, adopted by the Government of Romania in the year 2015, which includes the main coordinates underlying the development of future interventions on the needs of Roma people, as well as the impact of EEA and Norway grants in the activities performed by NGOs operating in this field.

The meeting was also attended by Her Excellency Mrs. Tove Bruvik Westberg, Ambassador of Norway to Romania, besides representatives of the Financial Mechanism Office in Brussels and the Ministry of European Funds, as National Focal Point.

Later on, the officials attended a meeting with Cluj Metropolitan Area Inter-Community Development Association, the promoter of the project "Social interventions for the de-segregation and social inclusion of the vulnerable groups of Cluj Metropolitan Area, including the Roma population", which presented the objectives and expected outcomes of this project and visited a community from Pata Rât.

The meetings were extremely constructive, falling under the good cooperation within the EEA and Norway Grants between the authorities responsible for the implementation of these funds and they provided attenders with information useful for the further development of this collaboration.
