On 8th March 2016, the Minister of European Funds, Aura RĂDUCU participated in the monitoring visit of two projects in Bacau, financed under the EEA and Norway Grants. Delegation MFE was accompanied by HE Mrs. Tove Bruvik Westberg, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Romania, Ms. Sandie Blanchet (UNICEF Romania), as well as representatives of the Ministry of Justice (Programme Operator), UNICEF Romania, National Administration of Penitentiaries and the Bacau Penitentiary.
The first project, Strengthening the capacity of the penitentiary for juvenile offenders from Bacau to respect the relevant international instruments on human rights, is financed under the RO23 - Correctional Services, including sanctions nonprivative freedom. It is implemented by the National Administration of Penitentiaries, with a total value of 3.1 million euro. During the visit was presented the modernization works of the departments for juvenile offenders, was visited investment objective and have discussed the proposals to extend rehabilitation work in two adjacent buildings within the approved budget of the project in order to improve conditions of detention.
The second project, Social inclusion through providing integrated social services at the community level, aims to develop a model of integrated community services (health, education, social) for vulnerable children and their families (including Roma communities) from Bacau county. The project is financed under the RO25 - Poverty alleviation and implemented by UNICEF Romania, having a value of 3.2 million euro grant and 2 million contribution from UNICEF. The official delegation also visited two families in a situation of vulnerability from the commune Poduri.
During the event was held a meeting with representatives of public authorities at local and county level during which they discussed details of the status of projects and needs identified.
